It's uncanny how close Nicholas Cage's version of Dracula looks like Bela Lugosi.

Unfortunately, Renfield has proven to be a tough sell to audiences. The film had a price-tag of (reportedly) 65 million, but, so far, has barely reached a fifth that worldwide. With new films flooding the marketplace, expect this film to be a costly misfire for Universal.

I haven't seen the film, but, from what I've read, it tells a complete story and doesn't require a sequel, which means this is largely a nonissue, but it does mean studios will be less likely to greenlit an oddball black-comedy like this again soon.

This looks hilarious! Sad it isn't doing well in theaters, but not the least bit surprised though.

It was alright. I had high hopes for this film. Like, really high hopes for it. What it is though - is an alright film. Nicholas Cage does well in it, and so does Nicholas Hoult. In some ways, I would have actually preferred a straight-up remake of the 1930's film with Cage playing a straight faced Dracula. The practical make-up effects for Cage were cool, but the special effects in the actual film sucked. The last half of the film was a real mess, and I found myself bored outta my mind any time Dracula wasn't on the screen.
