Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith, about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

I will watch it.

I have chosen not to watch the trailer, but the promotional artwork I've seen leaves me a little apprehensive about it.

Still, I will watch it with an open-mind. I have a lot of nostalgia for the Twisted Metal games (grew up on the PlayStation classic, went onto to thoroughly enjoy Twisted Metal: Black on the PS2 and then, Twisted Metal on the PlayStation 3). Whether this is a new great series or not, I can only hope it entices the game developers to consider returning to the series again.

Friend and I were talking about it. It was a huge game of my childhood and I remember playing with my brothers often. I think the series could carry a lot more weight with a horror/macabre director and Rob Zombie leading the soundtrack. Just have to wait and see what future trailers show.

Seems they're aiming more for a comedic route so far though disappointingly.

Rob Zombie doing the soundtrack like he did with Twisted Metal 3 would have been fantastic.

A strong director could have very much elevated this, I think. At a different time, I may have even welcomed Rob Zombie in the director's chair, but I've soured a lot on him in that department. As much as I did enjoy The Devil's Rejects and even, honestly, the Halloween remake, he misses and he misses a lot.

If we could have anybody, I imagine we would all kill for George Miller to be handed a large, bucket-load of money, but this is well below his pay grade. The same could've been said about the Borderlands movie as well, all because it and Twisted Metal vaguely feel a lot like Mad Max. I honestly think Eli Roth would've been better suited for Twisted Metal than Borderlands though.

Mr. Mackie (mmkay) definitely looks like he is playing an action-star, and like it is playing more closely to the Fast and the Furious crowd than I'd like. I am hoping it is able to embrace some of the dark humor and meanness that made the original series so coveted.

Rob Zombie for the score would've been neat. Either that or Korn or Metallica, or something like that. I believe they are trying to appeal to as many people as possible with that trailer, but I honestly think they'd be better off trying to appeal to the niche and then build from that.

Yeah, I get that. I know a lot of people were disappointed in his take on the Munsters remake. George Miller or even Romero would be great. Twisted Metal would be better taken in the direction of a horror film or even suspense/thriller, which I agree, either of them would be better at directing.

Seems to be the go to of late. Mass market and hope it sticks enough to make enough money to regain the costs.

I would love a bunch of heavy metal and/or hard rock bands collaborating on the soundtrack for it.
