The Review section is a pet project I am currently developing for Dustjacket. Basically, I am manipulating a XenForo add-on and repurposing it for our unique objective. Currently, you can add a film / book / videogame to the Review section, providing its addition to our own database.
After, you can offer your own Review and Rating for the film / book / videogame, and others will be able to do so as well. This will then, theoretically, act as a log for that asset for yourself and others.
Currently, the Review database is in its infancy stages (I am adding all of the reviews largely by hand - I had found ways I could pull from TMDB and others, but I wasn't able to find a consistent way to pull content for all the mediums in the same way (i.e. I don't have an equivalent way of pulling for books the way I would for movies, etc.). However, I believe part of the fun of Dustjacket will be logging the films ourselves and using as a way to stimulate discussion and bring eyeballs to each addition, rather than having one giant dump bin all at once.
Every time a film / book / videogame is added, a Thread is automatically made in its respective Club forum (i.e. when a movie is logged, a discussion thread will be made in the Movie Club section).
I am still editing out the terminologies (i.e. instances where it may use the word "Resource" instead of "Review", etc.), as a bulk change of all uses will lead to inappropriate phrasing, and so, it would be effective to do it by hand.
Feel free to leave any comment below about additions you think would add an interesting wrinkle to the Review tab on Dustjacket and ways it could be better integrated into the actual forum.
Currently, I have ideas I am trying to work into it - like a Queue system so that users can add stories they'd like to leave themselves a reminder to look at later, a way to make all Reviews left by User visible (making it a more effective Log), and a way for users to catalog their Top 10s, 15s, so on and so forth. A lot of it is a learning process though.
